Pre Poo Hot Oil Treatment for easier Wash Day!

Hi Lovelies! Doing a Hot Oil Treatment before a full wash, greatly helps your hair in terms of reducing tangles by oiling the hair strands and enabling them to glide past each other rather than tangle up during your Wash Day Process. I normally do my own home produced hair treatment but this time around I bought one of these hand made all natural hair treatment online from the company Lush.

These come in a range of natural hand made products. The one I chose was the 'Hair Doctor. 'The ingredients include Coconut Oil,Jojoba Oil, Rosemary and Red Henna. All these infused together work to leave the hair feeling stronger and nourished and ready for the somewhat wear and tear process our hair actually goes through on every Wash Day. The Treatment comes attached to a wooden stick on which directions for use are clearly highlighted.

My hair was left looking and feeling amazing! Any Hot Oil Treatment will work a treat on your Natural Hair prior to washing. Give it a try if not already doing so!

Wash and Go using New Eco Black Castor and Flaxseed Oil Gel!

Happy Tuesday Ladies! After hearing so much about the new Eco Black Castor and Flaxseed Oil Gel, I finally decided to give it a go!

The Gel comes in a new flip top tub, feels really smooth to the touch, not sticky and heavy like some traditional Gels. It has a rather pleasant and sweet smell and applies easily onto damp hair that has a Leave In Conditioner on it. I applied the Gel over my Cantu Curl Activator and let the hair air dry undisturbed for three hours.

Cantu Curling Mousse Wash and Go compared to Gel: My Opinion!

A very Happy Tuesday to you Ladies! So recently, I tried out Hair Mousse as opposed to Gel for my customary Wash and Go, which I tend to wear as soon as the weather gets warmer on this end of the globe.

For this, I looked to Cantu hair products, to be precise as the Curl Activator Cream and the Wave Whip Curling Mousse:

Flaxseed Natural Hair Gel D.I.Y!

Happy Tuesday Ladies! I finally decided t make some FlaxSeed Gel. This has been a trend for the longest time in the Natural Hair Community.

Flaxseeds are packed with goodness for your hair in the form of nutrients like Protein, Calcium, Zinc, Magnesium, Iron and Omega 3 Fatty Acids which are beneficial to the growth of strong and healthy hair. Consuming these seeds is highly beneficial for your skin and hair, however using it topically in the form of a Natural hair Gel is just as good.

The Omega 3 fatty acids in Flaxseeds are extremely nurturing for our hair follicles and increasing the elasticity of hair fibres. This causes hair to be stronger and less vulnerable to breakage.

Omega 3 fatty acids are also known to have great anti-inflammatory properties, which make these seeds highly beneficial in reducing inflammation caused in various scalp conditions like dandruff and itchy scalp.

My first time experience making and using Flaxseed Gel was surprising in a really good way!I did not actually expect to have such amazing results! The Gel left my hair feeling soft, while providing excellent hold and my hair literally gleamed! This rivals any commercial gel if you ask me!Also a little goes a long way so only a small amount is enough.

4 Products to Set Your Hair

Hi Ladies, happy Friday!

We all love a good twist out, flexi/permrod set, bantu knot out or wash and go. One essential ingredient to getting the look and hold you want is using a setting  product to keep your style. I think the best known open secret is that the key to definition is hold. And I mean soft hold, whereby your hair stays in place without it feeling like an arm cast (lol). Here are my top four suggestions in no particular order of preference.

1. African Naturalistas Twist and Style Gel
Perfect for laying down them edges, and holding your hair in place. You can shop for this product at our AN Store here or simply dial 08091377699 to place an order.

2. ORS Wrap/Set Mousse
This holds your curls for up to a week especially if you are attempting a style such as a flexi rod set, perm rod set or bantu knot out. I haven't tried it on a wash and go, so I can't attest to its holding powers in that situation.

3. Flaxseed gel
You can make it yourself  (read all about that here)  or buy some ready made. Flaxseed gel is excellent for those of use trying to minimise on harmful chemicals or compounds found in commercial gels. Perfect for your wash and go to set your curls.Other naturals love the hold it give them in their braids  and twist outs.

4. AN Twist and Curl Pudding
If gels and foam aren't your thing, try a pudding instead. AN has you covered with our Twist and curl pudding for lovely curl definition. You can shop for it on the store here.

What order should I apply my products in?
Generally I suggest leave-in - setting product - oil/butter/polisher. However if you are doing a wash and go, I would suggest that you skip the oil/butter or apply it before you put the gel or pudding.

What are you waiting for? The defined hair style is waiting for you!
