Today we'd be looking at 5 ways to deal with a bad hair day, let's jump right it into it.
Accessorise; Using accessories will definitely change the look of hair styles and also when you have stuck and don't know what to do with your hair. There are plenty accessories to help with a bad hair day. Bobby pins, head bands, flower crowns, Hair chains etc. We have must-haves for every naturalista.
Abit more make-up; Take the attention away from your hair by putting abit more make-up that you'd regularly put on. Use a bold red or banging eye make up and let the world look at your face and not your hair.
Cover it up: It doesn't have to be boring scarfs, there are options of turbans, hats and caps. Here is one scarf 4 ways, Step up your turban game. These should help with covering up your bad hair for the day.
Extensions; Adding extensions to your hair to give you a faux bun will also help you deal with a bad hair day. All you need are hair band, hair extensions and bobby pins. Here's a tutorial on how to get it done.

Grey Crochet Braids on Natural Hair

I've mentioned a few times that I was starting to get bored with my hair. The options I had were to color my hair, cut it, and maybe loc it. Well, I'm afraid of dyeing my hair, so for color, the next best things were to get a colored wig or braids, specifically crochet braids. I've been itching to get grey crochet twists for a few months now, and I decided to bite the bullet this week.
My whole family has been shaking their head, and my 4 year old nephew kept asking me why my hair was grey. But I like it [for now] and I wanted to show you guys :)
I used Color 44 Kinky Twist Hair from Femi Collection. Ideally, I would have preferred ombre grey hair, going from black to grey but that option was not available.
My cousin did the cornrows/weaving the day before - she reminds me of salon owners because she tried to use a small comb through my dry hair, and complained when I protested! Then my sister and I crocheted the hair on.
All I know is that I'm the X-Men's Storm's Nigerian cousin.

My Current Protective Style: Nazuri Curls Clip-Ins

Sorry I didn't post last week - it was a really hectic one and I didn't plan ahead *my apologies*
If you follow my personal blog, you know that one of my favorite ways to style my hair is using clip-ins, specifically from the Nazuri Curls brand. While their hair comes in wefts for sew-ins, and wigs, I have clip-ins in their Afro and Straight hair types.
Right now I'm wearing the Afro ones, and one of the things I really like is how well they match my hair. Apart from the color, most people on first glance think that it's my real hair. I like the clip-ins because I can leave majority of my hair alone for a few days, which means minimal manipulation. For the part that I leave out, I try to moisturize at least every other day.
Another reason why I like the clip-ins is because I can do a whole lot of different hair styles! I get bored easily so being able to change up my hair style is important to me.
The clips are also comfortable to sleep in, so I don't have to worry about taking them in and out everyday. I usually just twist them and tie my scarf to bed. In the mornings, I may add a little leave-in conditioner, then fluff and I'm ready to go.
This week I've worn them in this hairstyle below. It's pretty easy and I can actually do it without a mirror. Should I post a picture tutorial?
I have worried a little bit about the clips potentially doing damage to my roots, but I've had them for over a year and not noticed any such damage, so I guess it's all in my head.
What's your current protective style? Have you ever used clip-ins before?

How To Get Rid Of Hair Extensions Itch

Hello everyone.
Ever wondered what causes your hair to itch when it's in extensions?
It's called Alkaline Lye. Most, if not all synthetic extensions have been coated with an Alkaline lye. This is a chemical distributed onto the strands of the extensions by the manufacturer to make it wear/heat resistant. The whole essence is to create a product with a high thermal resistance ''that would protect you''. The downside to this is the allergic reaction that causes the extreme itchiness and dry/flaky scalp.
The good news is, it can be gotten rid off by soaking the hair in Apple Cider Vinegar.
Technique.
1. Fill a large bowl enough for the hair with warm water.
2. Pour a cup of ACV into the bowl.
3. Place the synthetic hair in it and leave it for about 20 minutes.
4. When a while film appears, remove the hair.
5. Take the hair out and dispose the ACV mixture.
6. Rinse with plain warm water, squeeze the excess water and leave it to dry.
*It is important to do this before installation, immediately after purchasing the extensions.
