Hair supplements for pregnant women

Just as every woman's body is different from the next, our experiences and outcomes would also differ. Women have unique experiences during pregnancy and after child birth due to the varying amounts of the hormone estrogen in the body as well as other factors.

Natural Hair and Pregnancy: Hair care and Hair Styles

Hello Naturalistas,

In this episode of Natural Hair and Pregnancy series, we would be looking at how we can be flexible with our hair care and hair styles we can achieve without stress for those that don't want to lean into the protective styling option.

One thing we have established is how your hair will take the back seat in the first few months of the pregnancy. The Idea of having a more flexible regimen isn't going to be me saying "do this" or "don't do that" It is entirely up to you and your hair, no regimen is one-size-fits-all but the main things to note is;

- Don't pressure yourself.
- Do the basics
- Let go of the stressful treatments
- Get tons of accessories and scarfs for when you don't feel like anything at all
- Let your spray bottle be your friend
- Moisturize
- Don't leave your hair unkempt
- If all else fails, go to the salon.

Here are a few quick, stress free hair styles and tips to help you while being pregnant if you don't want do a protective style.

So, we are going to be helping you reduce wash time and you won't have to bother about the looong process it takes to wash your hair anymore. Let's talk styles, We have this style technique for busy naturalistas you are technically busy growing a baby right? ;) and we know putting your hair in a bun is a very easy style, and we don't want you to have just one boring bun but different variations. When you are done with those styles (which we hope you don't exhaust soon) this is another quick style in just 2 steps, trust me, it's super easy! If you are in your early pregnancy and you still have to go to the office? I got you covered too, You can do this style without fuss. When the almighty shrinkage hits, know you have how to style it too. It might get increasingly difficult as the days go by, the fastest style will get you through those days. I hope you have loads of your must-have accessories you are going to be needing them and if you don't? Order what you need!

And when all else fails? You can scarf your hair in 11 ways!

With that, I have come to the end of the Natural Hair and Pregnancy Series and I want to present to our pregnant naturalistas a License to become a Lazy naturalista! Please, own it with pride!!! ;)

We love you and hope to celebrate your little naturalista with you!

Natural Hair and Pregnancy: Your Hairtitude

Holla Naturalistas,

I hope you are enjoying our Natural Hair and Pregnancy series so far? Here are a few things I wish I encouraged my sister to do with/for her hair after seeing her messy after the delivery of her baby.

You are excited and over the moon about your baby, then you have to go through all the changes your body will undergo and if you are one of the lucky ones, not so terrible feelings will accompany those change. Asides all the changes you are forced to undergo, wanting to focus on your well being and the well being of your growing baby Hair care will take a back seat but I want to encourage you not to let it. Here are a few hairtitudes I hope you can adopt to help you atleast keep your hair care in the middle seat;

- You might not be as 'into' your regimen as you would on a normal day but, be sure to pay abit of attention to your hair.
- Do the basic hair care routine. Moisturize and use a satin bonnet.
- Now is not the time to be doing DIY because there will be little or no motivation, be open to the idea of going to the salon.
- Don't be so strict with your regimen and put too much pressure on your self to meet up with the castor oil challenge or the 6 weeks before my next protein treatment. Just don't neglect your hair totally, the idea is to be more flexible.
- Invest in Scarfs and accessories. We are also aiming at looking good while at it right?
- If you are one of the naturalistas that are 'one protective style in a year'-naturalistas, be kind to yourself and get your hair in a protective style to minimize the amount of attention it needs.
- Enjoy your flourishing hair while it lasts.
- While embracing the new hair growth, get ready to combat the hair loss that is in the nearest future. You see, you cannot afford to neglect your hair completely.
- In light of the above fact, now is not the time to be 'adventurous' with the hair well, except you decide to do a BC which is totally up to you. You need your hair in it's healthiest for the days ahead.
- And if all else fails, Contact berry for your crochet wig!!!

Now Naturalistas, repeat after me, I will be a yummy pregnant woman. I will take care of my hair! Next week, we shall be giving you license to be a lazy naturalista and yummy pregnant woman hair styles you can achieve without stress. Stay tuned!!

Natural Hair and Pregnancy: What to expect with your Natural Hair

Hello Naturalistas,

How has the new year been? Hope it has been good to you. Last week we introduced the "Natural Hair and Pregnancy" series.

We hear so much about the "woes" that befall you in your first trimester, so much that alot of people don't believe there can be anything 'good' that comes with that time of the pregnancy.

Yes! One might experience the Nausea, Tiredness, Constipation, heartburn and all the other symptoms that come with growing a life inside you but there is also the good aspects and one is which is Hair Growth!!

What causes this change?

Pregnancy hormones most especially estrogen - The increase in estrogen level and the increase in blood circulation which carries more nutrients to your hair and nails are major reasons for this change. As much as the effect of these hormones vary per person, there is absolutely no guarantee that your hair will be better but majorly, Pregnancy affects Hair growth.

What is supposed to happen

During pregnancy, the hair grows but there is also very minimal hair loss. This translates to longer hair. What people don't know is that 3-6 months after delivery, the hair loss is waiting for you. Now, the key is enjoying this period while it lasts and also taking care of your hair enough to manage the hair loss that you are most likely to experience after the birth of the baby.

What really happens

Admist all the changes your body is going through due to the pregnancy, the hair becomes the last thing on one's mind and although, you notice that your hair is kinda flourishing you're sha happy and it makes you happy but it's still in the back seat. The when it's almost your due date you decide to make your hair to look good after the baby is born, I mean you don't want anyone taking your picture with your hair like that! Then you are hit with the massive hair loss after your delivery and you blame your baby for taking your hair...

Well, that's why we are going to look at your Hairtitude Next week! ;)

Any experienced mother in the house? What was your experience like? How did you notice during your pregnancy?

Natural Hair and Pregnancy: Introduction

Hello Naturalistas,

Happy New Year!! How was your new year celebration?

I watched my sister go through the journey of Pregnancy in the front row seat. I also saw her natural hair at it's messiest in this period and I knew there had to be a better way to deal with your natural hair in this period.

Pregnancy is a very exciting journey and your body goes through alot of changes which includes your hair. While in the first trimester, there can be a few difficulties that you have to worry about and the last thing on your mind is your hair. I asked my sister a few questions and did more research to see other people's experience and over the next posts, I would be sharing the things that I have learnt that will help natural pregnant women deal better with their hair.

We would be looking at the following;

  • How pregnancy can affect your hair.
  • Hair care routines.
  • Simple Hairstlyles.
  • Preparing for your EDD (oh! I learnt alot).
  • Your Hairtitude during the period.
I am excited about this and hope you are too. Be sure to share with your pregnant sisters, friends and maybe mothers ;)
