Natural Hair photoshoot

So I finally did a long-ovedue photoshoot in februaru. I should have done this ages ago, but because of laziness, I didn't. It wasn't until I could no longer push it forward, thanks to a website I had to build, which needed some of these pictures, then I had to do it.

It was a great session, but really rushed. One thing is sure. I won't be using this photographer next time.

Damn shrinkage. My waist-length hair must be on display for you all to drool over, by fire by force, lol. Next time, I will go with a hairstylist that would later either stretch my hair out with thread or heat (I am already shuddering at the thought of applying heat to my hair).

I have loads and loads of them, but enjoy these few. Anyway, enjoy them. Lemme know the ones you like best

Naturallure spotlight: Chrisette Michele

Hi Naturalistas

Today I bring you the beautiful award winning songstress, Chrisette Michele. 

Her song 'couple of forevers' drives me to the 'awwwwww' kinda love realms, if you know what I mean :) 

I found her on twitter and told her what her song was doing to my head and she took the time to leave a long response and not just a 'thanks' LOL

I just love her :)

She loves her signature TWA but recently, she decided to grow it out. She rocked the TWA Mehn! When I mean rocked, I mean she owned the look. She looks great with both long and short hair tho

Most times, she likes to throw in a protective style. I brought pictures.

Natural Hair in the 60's

Yo yo!!!

If you're quite into social media like I am, you would have come across the images I want to share today. A young man called Johnson Donatus Aihumekeokhai Ojeikere was a Nigerian photographer. In the 1960's he embarked on a project photographing hairstyles on women he encountered in Nigeria. He had over 1000 photographs!!! I think the photos take us back in history and to a time when natural hair was worn in so many distinctive and creative styles.

Rihanna stuns in Bantu knots

Rihanna sported the Bantu knot natural protective style at the iHeartRadio music awards that held on the 1st of May in Los Angeles, California. I am very sure her stylist was going for a bold look and the Bantu knot sure delivers. It is unique and draws a lot of attention. She did get a lot of attention, as everyone was talking about the singer's very bold getup.

Just incase you are wondering what to do to your hair when next you have a big event, don't forget that the Bantu knot is an option. It all depends on how you rock it.

Naturallure spotlight: Nse Sule

Hi Naturalistas
I know some of you know this lady as Nse Ikpe Etim but not as Nse Clifford Sule.
She got married last year to Mr. Clifford Sule but no one really remembers to call her by her legal name, but I want to. I mean it is different if she didn't adopt her husband's name, but she did. Whichever one you know her by, we all agree that she is one very beautiful and talented actress who has a reputation of rocking the natural hair.
She hit the scenes with the movie 'reloaded' and had everyone talking about her performance. I reckon it wasn't her first work, but it was the most profound. After that, she kept the pace with other great works like phone swap, bursting out, journey to self...etc
She got married on vals day, 2013 to her husband Clifford Sule rocking her natural tresses. That is a very confident woman right there.
