2 Alternatives for sleek natural hair edges

Source
Holla Naturalistas,

Using edge control gives our natural hair styles the finishing look that makes it classy. However, using edge control too frequently does have negative effect on the hair. Our edges are more delicate and putting on the thick gel that pulls it back with a brush over time, your edges beings to thin. An occasional use of edge control can be allowed, the damage comes when it gets too frequent. Which is why I am bringing you 2 alternatives to get your sleek edges.

Hair Butter;  While gel will give you the most hold, after spritzing your hair with water, use the butter to hold the edges back. This provides hold without buildup unlike the gel. I use the African Naturalista Moisturising Butter.

Tie your hair while it's still wet; After you are done applying the products of choice, you tie a silk or satin scarf over your hair till you are ready to leave home. What I do is style my hair the night before and tie it to sleep, wake up with sleek edges. Bear in mind that you don't want it tied too tight.

What ways do you control your edges? Do you use gels? What's your experience with gels?
