What's YOUR attitude? Team Natural opinions

This is going to be a short one because I want to get some general feedback. This week on 2 separate websites, I have read articles relating to negative attitudes from the Team Natural towards others who have their hair relaxed, texlaxed, etc. According to them, some naturalistas foster almost antagonistic and hostile behaviors when it comes to using relaxers. Vice versa too, because I've seen some really mean comments about natural hair.

Anyways, if you're natural, what's your feeling towards non-naturals?

If your hair isn't natural, what's your feeling towards naturals?

While everyone may have strong opinions on the topic, please be kind and sensitive in your responses.

I'll go first.

I honestly don't care how anyone wears their hair, as I believe it's their own head and they are free to do what they want. Wanna wear the longest Brazilian weave? G'head. Wanna loc your locks? Have fun. Want to apply heat on your natural hair everyday? Well, I wasn't there by that time - just please use heat protectant and very low heat. Wanna wear your fro as big or as shrunken or as short as you want? Yasssss!

My opinion is this: DO YOU. Do what you're comfortable with.

And now, it's your turn to share :)

Berry Dakara.

    1. Exactly. Our own hair can have enough drama of its own to worry about someone else's.

  2. Im just as liberal as you Berry. I just want someone's hair to be healthy whether it is natural or relaxed. Cause dry, broken, dull, thirsty hair just breaks my heart when I know it has so much potential to beautifully relaxed or beautifully natural.

  3. I get a bit sad when I see ladies with relaxed hair or weaves but I am always conscious that is their choice and I respect that. What I don't like is when women allow men to use all kinds of superficial characteristics to divide us (light skin vs dark skin, skinny girls vs full figures, natural hair vs weaves etc).

    1. But it's not just men that divide us. A lot of women do the same thing and can be even worse!

  4. Smh.. I just can't be bothered about another person's hair! Its not my business if its healthy or not ( I am not Atilola!) Where is the time to notice sef, maybe when I finally manage to reach bra length, then pride takes over and then I can roll my eyes at unhealthy or relaxed hair!

  5. I don't mind as long as it's healthy... but would love it if everyone was rocking their hair in its natural state. What gets to me is when people choose to be ignorant concenring natural hair, and thus make hurtful comments. I would rather they were knowledgable about both sides and choose to be relaxed, than be relaxed because its all they know or that they don't appreciate the hair they were born with. There is a new found self-worth experience that only comes with being natural, so I would love my fellow sisters to atleast try it. If they go back to relaxed, then they didn't experience it lool.

  6. I'm one to mind my own business generally, which understandably extends to choice of hair lifestyle. However, my heart breaks when I see people hair and scalp issues, especially when you can obviously see that these people are the cause of their own problems. And what do I do in such cases? I just mind my own business and look the other way. I don't want to get accused of trying to scam people with my trichology services. I just wait for them to come to me.

  7. I don't really care about other people's choices as they don't affect me in the least. What I hate is people giving me unsolicited opinions about my hair, like the size and texture of my afro is an affront to them. That sort of abuse I simply will not take!

  8. I don't care about other people's hair like that, just don't touch my hair.
