Two Products That Totally Changed My Moisturised Hair Game

Hey ladies, happy Friday!

Thank goodness it's the weekend. I don't know about you, but my week has been fast and slow at the same time!

Today I want to share my experience with African Pride Shea Butter Miracle Leave-In Conditioner and how it solidified the two products I need to keep my hair moisturised.

So the first time I used it, I noted how thick it was. My thoughts; " this is going to be really moisturising!" I also had a lot of recommendations as to how good and softening it is.
With my new product excitement, I applied the leave - in on freshly washed hair, sealed with castor oil, wrapped up my hair in a satin scarf and went to bed. In the morning, my hair was dry. Sahara desert dry.
Usually after wash day, my hair is not quite as soft the next day as it on day two or three after washing. Not too sure why. So taking that into account, on day two I decided to apply the leave-in on dry hair and then seal with castor oil (which is how I normally moisturise. I just ensure the leave-in is water based).....STILL DRY  the next day.

My next line of  thought, "Hmmm, okaaaay. Maybe I should spray on just a little bit of water, THEN add the leave-in and oil." . Same result, dry hair!
Then a few days later it occurred to me that perhaps I was using too much product on a daily basis, which in turn created build up and thus prevented proper penetration of the product, so I would use a minimum amount and moisturise every second day. Yes you guessed it..dry hair.

It left me feeling like this:

I was pretty disappointed, so I put the product on my shelf for a good two to three weeks while I pondered whether I had just wasted my money. I'm all about fixing a product before I chuck it out. I picked it up again after the two or so weeks and stared hard at my jar of expensive leave-in. That's when I was like "Challenge accepted! I am going to make this leave-in work for me cause I spent way too much money buying it!"

From my past experience with rose water, I knew it has softening qualities which I talked about in this post. So I decided to add it to the leave-in conditioner AND seal with shea butter which I had purchased some time back.

Oh boy! Oh boy!! My hair was so happy and soft. I almost cried because my hair was sooooo soft. I'm talking pillow clouds soft. Just to make sure it was the shea butter working as well, I used it  to seal my hair with other leave-ins, and it did not disappoint! You can read my full praise and accolade here.

The important thing I learned from this experience is to try as much as possible to hone in on a good sealant and humectant that will work to keep your hair hydrated regardless of the other products you use. For me it's shea butter and rose water. My hair is always happy now. As for the leave-in, I will not buy it again because it took a lot of work to make it effective. If say I don't have shea butter and rose water on hand, it won't serve much purpose in my products arsenal. Oh well, some you win, some you lose.

What are your key moisture game-changers?
