Diary of an Honest Naturalista: Week 142

... Continued from last week

I’m sorry for all the hurt I caused you. I was just talking to someone else. He’s just a friend.

“Who is he, do I know him?”

“No, you don’t. He’s one of our clients at work.”

“But you didn’t tell me.”

“He’s just a client at work!” I insisted.

“Anna, you tell me about all the clients at work who you have dealings with. You tell me everything. But you didn’t tell me about him.”

I saw he had a point. “I’m sorry.” I said.

“Does he like you?” he asked bluntly.

“Well, yeah. I think so.”

“Do you like him?”

“What?” I exclaimed, shocked that he could be so blunt in such a way.

“It’s a question. There’s no need to get defensive. Do you like him?”

I gave him a long stare, and finally answered. “No… at least, not that I’m aware of.”

“You are not sure. Anna. You are not sure if you like him. I know you well, and your ‘No’ isn’t certain. You even hesitated for a long time before you answered.

At this point, I decided that it was best I kept quiet before I said anything that would put me in trouble.

“So what are we going to do now?” Dimeji asked.

“I don’t understand your question.” I stated with courage draining out of me.

“I mean, we can’t continue like this. Something needs to change.”

“Oh!” I said, a bit relieved.

“Do you have any suggestions?” He asked me.

“Ehm…” I started. “We can just appraise where we are, and see how we can move forward.” I stated as a matter of fact.

“I think we should take a break.” He stated coolly, with a straight face.

“Whattttt?” I blurted out in shock.

“We should take a break. I need to clear my head, and know where all this is going. If we are even in the right direction.” He was resolute.

“What do you mean by right direction? What direction have we been going all these years?” I asked, looking at him like he was out of his mind.

“Anna, I asked you if you liked someone else, and you couldn’t even give me a convincing answer. I don’t care about you, but I’m taking a break.”

Oh my gosh, I’m finished.

But I'm in a serious relationship and its seems like I'm becoming distant... Don't know what will happen if he asks me if I like new guy.. **sighs**

    1. Aww, sorry about your dillemma. It can be frustrating as emotions don't listen to common sense. They are very fleeting but intense in the short while they manifest.

Please listen to common sense. If there's nothing wrong with your 'serious relationship', please don't give it up for a long term crush. In these days, commitment is really scarce. If you have committed to something, as a person of integrity, you should keep to your word. It's not a sin to like someone else, but you don't have to feed it and give it muscle. Even when you get married, other people will come and you will like them, but you can't afford to leave what you have committed because of feelings for someone else. Please, don't fan a dangerous flame.

I believe everything will work out for you in the end.

  6. Talking from experience, long term crushes don't work out... In fact it has a very high tendency to hurt you really bad...
Thank God in my own case I didn't end a serious relationship to go into it... And as God will have it after the messy end of the "crushing" relationship, a blessing came to me... So... Be careful with long term crushes.

  7. Anna and dis new guy isnt happening! Shez just enjoying d attention... Very soon, she would start looking for the dimeji in the new guy, she shd soon be tired of the new guy sef..my relationship is in its 7th year and sumtyms, it gets boring, tiring and annoying, most especially when the "wen are u calling us" question starts poping up everywhr, its gets to you and if you dont handle this phase well, you might lose d relatnshp or become a nag.. So, Anna, this is just a phase... Dnt forget dt, its not worth throwing those years with dimeji in d thrash. Dont go and apologise oh, go and beggggggggggggggggggg. But i still tink dimeji is proposing soon. Lol

  8. With all the mix signals you have send his way, I feel u should give him a bit of space and you also use that time to clear ur head of the other guy.
    It is well.

    1. Lol. Anna has nothing she has to clear from her head. Now that Dimeji asked for a break, I'm sure her head has already cleared, lol.

  9. You know, i a way, i do not absolve Dimeji of faults here. He seems to know a bit about your dissatisfaction with the relationship. if he wants to take if further he shouldn't let it get to the point where you're kinda loosing faith or bothered. i don't like it when men don't do the right thing well relatively sha and then expect the lady to wait indefinitely doing nothing. i hope this makes him evaluate how much he wants a future with you. i don't know if you get?
