The time has come again where I would relay my experience at the salon on Hairstyle lounge. The main challenge with this column is that I hardly take pictures, and I always forget I'm supposed to take pictures for the lounge.
So on 29th of December, I took down the second style on this edition of Hairstyle lounge. It was quite stressful taking down because of the intricacy of the hairstyle, row by row, column by column.
On 30th, I proceeded to O'Naturals to style my hair. I did not have to wait because I had made my booking, and I got there early. Omozo asked us to try another stylist this time, so I wasn't attended to by the artist of last edition, lol.
After washing with medicated shampoo, we used regular shampoo, deep conditioned under the steamer, and then proceeded to style. I requested for a catalogue, and chose the style I liked. I was looking for something that wasn't as tiny as Omozo's fave, but would still last as long. I'm sure you guys will agree that I chose right this time. It was a mohawk. Although the mohawk was just in front, while I wanted to be the whole of my head
The stylist also went ahead to draw on my hair. I think O'Naturals stylists are good with braiding patterns on people's hair. It seems to be one of their strengths. Look at the pictures below to see if you agree.
This was on 2nd January, three days after the hair was made. Y'all know my hair is highly porous and frizzy right.
The picture of this middle twisted area pinned up exposes the fact that my curls are not tight. I don't have the typical Nigerian 4C hair.
The most challenging part was getting the Mohawk we wanted. I really wanted it to extend to the back. After a while, I became imaptient, when I saw my friends, Aderoke, and Sisi Yemmie, and we descended into gisting.. I'm sure we would get it next time
And so, I rocked the style for 18 days (almost 3 weeks). I'm so happy because ever since I started going to O'Naturals, I don't think of time, styling etc. I basically have peace of mind. I converted this style to updo after the second week, and later to a pompadour, which I rocked with a Beanie Hat below.
All I did was unravel the Mohawk, and the turned it to a pompadour. It was my last day of wearing the style.
I hope you guys agree that I chose well this time. Or do you think I should keep allowing Omozo to choose the styles? Her styles are just so tiny and complex, lol. What matters to me most is that the hair doesn't get rough easily.
See you guys in the next edition.

Thank you, and thanks for agreeing that it suits me, lol.
DeleteIts really lovely.. :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI'm always amazed when i realise that you didnt attach any extensions.. Your hair is lovely
ReplyDeleteAww, thank youuuu. Can you tell that I'm blushing? Lol.
DeleteI get you on the tiny braids. I really have no patience for the take down and I do not trust the salon hands on my hair for that.
ReplyDeleteI will also suggest that you ask your stylist to capture your before and after look.
Hmm. True. I love your suggestion. My stylist has bought a good camera now. As for the before look, why would you want to see how I look before? It's just a mass head of hair, lol.
DeleteIt's so cute! I wish we had more natural hair salons here in Zambia. It really takes the stress away from the salon experience. Your style lasted quite long and still looked good.
ReplyDeleteAww. We also don't have much in Nigeria. I think there are about 3 or 4 in Lagos, 2 in PH, and 2 in Abuja. That's all I know of. We are still coming up here too.
DeleteYou can go back for them to take it down na abi? Shey no money will exchange hands when I go there? I will just say I want to use it for hairstyle lounge and let omozo choose my style abi? *wink* I wish they weren't so far away from me.
ReplyDeleteLooollll. The stylists would just look at you as if you are speaking Hebrew. Then you would call me, and like Jesus to the sinners, I would say "Depart from me, I never knew you."
DeleteLoool. This is how life is bah?
DeleteBraided updos are the one!
