Diary of an Honest Naturalista: Week 127

Dimeji is gone. *still wailing*

We parted about 15 hours ago, and it wasn’t a great parting. Even though he tried to cheer me up, I refused to stop sulking. After a while, he gave up, and I guess he was even pissed at a point, but I didn’t care. I’m the victim here, so I should cry if I want to.

Dimeji intentionally told a driver of an unmarked Taxi to take us to the airport, and wait at the car park to take me back home, so his parents wouldn’t have to drive him, and we could have ample time alone.

He started going mushy on me about how he loves me, and how his life has never been the same since we met. Dimeji is usually more mischievous than mushy, so mushy is a special state for him, but I felt it was just a wrong timing.

“I love you too. And I’m really going to miss you too.” I started again.

“It will be fine. You will be working, and I will be working. We will be very busy, and before you know it, it will all be over, and I will be back.” He tried to soothe me.

“No, you will be busy at work, while I would be thinking of you at work, since I won’t be able to do anything else.”

“We will be fine.” He gave a teasing laughter. “You still haven’t told me what you want. Hope you have given Tonya my hotel address, so she can ship the things she wants to send to you?”

“I don’t want anything. I can see how you are trying to change the topic. And no, we won’t be fine.”

“Ok o, have it your way. We won’t be fine then.” He kept quiet.

At this point, I knew I had dragged the issue of his travel too far, and there was so much one person can take. But still, I didn’t feel the need to apologise.

And that’s how the car was quiet, all the way to the airport. We checked in, sorted out his documents, and still had about one hour to burn before he had to go to his departure gate. We just skimmed over surface discussions like work, colleagues, family, parents, etc., but nothing deep.

At a point Dimeji held me close.

“I’m going to miss pulling and rough-handling your hair, Anna. I can do so many things with you over the phone, but I cannot feel your hair, especially when it gets really spongy. Now, that’s something I’m going to miss.”

Because of my previous goof, I didn’t sulk too much this time. I smiled and said “And my hair will miss you too. On a second thought, it won’t miss you. My hair has been suffering from the effects of hand-in-hair syndrome because of you. Now that you are gone, it will have time to grow well.

“Wow, Anna. You are bringing up this hand-in-hair syndrome topic again. Well, since I am now the cause of your hair woes, you must grow waist-length hair before I get back.”

“And if I don’t, what will happen?” I shot back

“If you don’t, you will lose your bragging rights to the fact that I am the cause of your inability to grow waist-length hair. And I will always the right to always touch it without one word of complaint.”

And with this, he dragged me in public to give me a deep, long kiss.

By the time he was done, there was no more breath left in me to sulk again.

Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend.

I don't think this will help. I've been here too. Girl get on a plane and follow that man. Haha. You'll be okay Anna.
