"My biggest fear was that I would look like a boy." Mane Matters with Damilola Ogunnupebi

Hello Naturalistas,

How are you all doing? Its been a while :) If you didn't miss me please pretend you did. I did miss you all. Anyways, we are back with Mane matters. Meet Damilola.

AN: Can you tell us who you are and what you do?
My name is Ogunnupebi Oluwadamilola. I'm a Copywriter with an advertising agency. I'm a blogger as well and a budding Fashion Designer :)

AN: What's your thoughts about natural hair?It's... Magic. Stress free (when you know a bit about maintaining it), and above all, it's natural.

AN: Why did you decide to go natural?

Truthfully, I couldn't find a relaxer that would actually "relax"  my hair. It relaxes while in the salon, then blows right back up immediately I step out of the salon. Everyone kept recommending regular and super but I got really tired when a relaxer burnt my hair in front where everyone could see it  and there was no hair left! Lol

AN: Did you do a BC or you transitioned?I transitioned for 5 months after which I BC'd. At the moment, I'm 2 months post bc.

Right before the BC

AN: What was your transitioning experience like? I was totally impatient and wanted to see my natural hair. I put on protective styling so I didn't have to rush, but I still did... Lol.  I also loved maintaining both textures.
two textures

AN:Any fears about the BC?

Not at all.  Wanted to experience the hair in twa stage so I BC'd early

AN: What has your experience been?

I have the hand in hair syndrome. Still haven't gotten over how much I  love my hair and how beautiful I found it.

AN: What was/is your biggest fear about going Natural?

Hmm... That I would look like a boy and that I would run back to relaxers in no time. Now, I just can't wait for it to grow. Loving every minute!
BC

AN: Do you think you are in it for the long haul or is it just a phase?
Oh definitely the long haul. It's refreshing to not worry about the type of relaxer to buy the next month or that my hair was getting due for retouching.
Twits-out gone wrong

AN: Do you have any hair regimen you stick to?
Errrm.... I don't have one.  *runs*
*runs back* I just wash my hair twice a week and spray my water, olive oil and castor oil mixture on my hair every morning either if I'm wearing it out or on protective styling

AN: Whats your go-to protective style?

Twists. I looove twists. I definitely looove twists. :D

AN: There are people that definitely have negative comments about you hair, how do you deal with that?

Hmmmm I haven't really come across them yet... Most people just say they like my hair and also say how they can't handle natural hair
Mini-Afro
AN: Whats your must have product and accessory?
Bobby pins, my hand made headbands, water and oil mixtures, eco styler argan oil gel

AN: Whats you advice to anyone planning to ditch relaxers?
Just take that leap once you decide. It's certainly worth it!

Thank you for your time.
