Guess who called me last week???

Tonyaaaaa.

I was so excited to hear from my friend. We talked and talked and talked. Gosh, I wished we could talk forever. As it seems, she has gotten over the whole break up of her engagement with Sola. There’s another guy in the picture, even though it’s not yet official. The guy is also mixed race like her. He’s half white and half Ghanaian, though it’s his dad who is white, and he had never been to Ghana.

What more, he weaves his hair.

I’m not sure why Tonya does this, but she always falls for people who something questionable about them.

Festus was a total jerk

Sola was an extremely handsome TV personality

And now, a fellow mixed-race guy who weaves his hair.

As for me, I don’t know if I can date a guy who weaves his hair, though I would really love my son and nephew to weave theirs. Am I a hypocrite?

I'm not sure if it is just me, but I still have that stereotyped mindset about some certain types of guys, something I did not fail to let Tonya know.

“He weaves his hair?” I started.

“Yes. He does. And it’s so cuttteee.” Tonya said in her usual ‘excited-about-a-guy’ voice.

“But there’s this saying that guys who weave their hair or wear studs are usually flirts.” I warned.

“Really?” She asked, like I was speaking Greek. “He used to wear studs before but stopped few years ago.”

“I guess you really need to watch out then.” I joked.

“Naa, it’s not a big deal.” Loads of good guys over here braid their hair, it is part of the culture, especially among the mixed race.

“Oh, cool then.  I hope get to meet Carl soonest.” I said, secretly praying for Tonya to be wiser this time, and secretly envying her because I could never get Dimeji to weave his own hair.

“How’s Dimeji?” she asked, changing the topic.

“He’s great.” I said. “And he’s going bald. I blurted before I realised what I had said.”

“Really? Aww. Anyway, it’s not a big deal. My dad has been bald since like forever.”

But your dad is one of the top 100 richest men in Africa. I don’t think the state of his head counts. I thought to myself.
