Vixen Crochet Braids on my Natural Hair

Like I mentioned in this post a few weeks ago, vixen crochet braids are one of the newer natural hairstyles. Of course, it's not limited or exclusive to natural hair - but quite a number of naturalistas are doing the hair style. I also said I would share photos of mine. Since I don't know how to cornrow, my mum did those for me. In retrospect, I would have asked that they be smaller or in the inverted/didi style, so that they lay flat(ter).

I used this Senegalese Twist Braid by Femi collection because it was soft and mimics natural hair patterns.

In order to sleep and still protect my edges and other parts of my hair that were left out, this was how I tied my scarf.

I typically twist or flat twist my leave-outs and edges for some stretch.

When I unravel them, they kinda blend with the extensions.

I've worn the hair in mostly the 2 styles below, although I know they can be worn in multiple ways as shown in the videos from my original post.

I've had them in for 2 or 3 weeks now, and I plan to keep them in another week or two. But I also plan to blow-dry the extensions as well. If I can do more hairstyles, I will definitely share those photos.

What do you think?

  1. Very nice.. I think an individuals hair should be at least average length to pull this off.

    1. I think it can be short. I'm sure I've seen some vixen crochet braids on short hair on Youtube.

  2. It looks really nice on you Berry dear.

  3. In my naivety, lemme ask. How's this different from regular crochet braids?

    1. Since it's you, kindly go back to my original post about vixen crochet braids. :p

To anyone else asking, the vixen pattern allows you to leave out some of your own hair and part your hair in different ways.

  4. It's beautiful! Especially the way it blends in with your hair. But how protective is this style considering that there is quite an amount of hair left out. The leave out hair is quite breakage prone, isn't it?

  5. Woow....This is really beautiful..
