All naturalistas have struggled with their natural hair one time or the other. Here are some tips that can help you if you find yourself struggling with your hair or your child's natural hair.

Ask yourself, "Why are you natural?" If it is for the aesthetics, then you will easily fall back to perm. It has to be more than the visual look and appearance, it has to be for a greater reason.
Think about the reasons you decided to embark on this journey and if all those reasons are still important to you, don't give up. Join a natural hair forum or a meetup in your area where you can share your questions and concerns with naturals who've gone through what you're going through. Watch YouTube videos, find someone who has a hair texture similar to yours and implement parts of their regimen into yours until you find out what works for you. It's not easy, but it's worth it... And it does become easier with time

Be patient with your hair. You will have a few trials and tribulations before you actually figure out what works for your hair. Don't worry cause once you achieve that perfect twist out or Bantu knot out you will see it was all worth it

Don't look at other naturals hair and get depressed because your hair is unique and embrace your own texture find what works for you. And remember having natural does not mean you don't have to take care of your hair because I found out it takes a little more effort to care for my hair now that I am natural

Use YouTube to change up your look.

Think outside the box with styling and product selection... and remember that it's greater than just a manageability or convenience issue- it's an identity thing!

Have Patience

  1. Very well said! I've been known to tell a friend or two that it's not by force to be natural because all they did was complain about it.

  3. You nailed it to the point. It is important that we don't keep comparing ourselves to others. Even our heights and looks are not the same, so why do we think it would be different when it comes to hair?
