To avoid irritation, all essential oils must be used with a carrier oil. Check out the African Naturalistas carrier oils.

Tea tree oil has cleansing properties and can be used to combat a number of infections including dry skin acne, and inflammatory infections. It can be used to open clogged hair follicles, thereby improving hair growth, reduce dandruff, and keep the hair strong.

To keep hair strong, add a drop of tea tree oil to ten drops of a carrier oil such as sweet almond or similar oil. Apply the mixture to hair strands daily. For itchy scalp or dandruff, use a shampoo with 5% tea tree oil daily for four weeks. Or add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo bottle, shake and apply to your hair. The African Naturalistas Tea Tree oil is 100% pure and natural!

The benefits of rosemary oil include improving circulation, promotion of nerve growth, and anti-inflammatory properties, it is also an antioxidant. By strengthening circulation, rosemary oil prevents hair follicles from being starved of blood supply which would lead to hair loss. It has been proven effective in the treatment of alopecia. It is also used to prevent premature graying and the accumulation of dandruff. Rosemary oil is anti-inflammatory, therefore, it keeps hair follicles healthy and manages inflammatory conditions like dandruff. It can repair, stimulate, and regulate cells which means that it can help to regulate oily discharge at the hair follicles, thereby keeping hair healthy.

The African Naturalistas Rosemary oil can be massaged into the scalp by mixing about 5 drops into a carrier oil before applying. It can also be applied directly to the scalp. A few drops can also be added to shampoo and use as normal.

Peppermint. Oil has a number of skin and hair care benefits, some of which include:

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Anti-microbial

  • Analgesic and anesthetic

  • Vasodilating

Peppermint oil is used as a remedy for hair loss, this is because it is a vasodilator. Vasodilators improve blood flow to the hair follicles which in turn could improve hair growth. Peppermint oil also strengthens hair roots which also helps in preventing hair loss. In addition to being able to stimulate hair growth, Peppermint oil is also used to relieve itchy scalp, treat dandruff, and lice. It has excellent moisturizing properties that will hydrate and moisturize dry scalp.

To use, add a couple of drops of African Naturalistas Peppermint oil to your regular hair massage oil and massage into the scalp. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash with shampoo. Peppermint oil can also be added to your shampoo and conditioner, about 5 drops per ounce.
