Happy New Year everyone!
I wish you all a wonderful, happy year ahead. Since it's the new year, everyone's been talking about their resolutions and goals. I typically always share my Hair-solutions at the beginning of each year too. I don't do so well with my goals at the end of the day though *hides face.* I chat frequently with our other contributor Ebun, and she put out the question for this year - asking what people were hoping for their hair this year.
In the past few months I've thought about cutting my hair and starting from scratch. I've been natural for over 10 years now, and I feel like my hair doesn't reflect that. Not that I'm necessarily looking for long hair, but in my mind sometimes, it's not as healthy as it could be - completely my fault though. I haven't cut it yet because of a small fear of having to start all over. I've also thought about coloring it - but that means more work for me, and I just cannot be bothered right now. And my final option, which is Ebun's favorite option - is to loc it. I know I'd look nice with locs, but I'm afraid my hair would be thin and I don't like thin hair on my face.
All this being said, I finally decided on a resolution for 2017 - embrace my hair, show it off and be proud of it. I think the reason why I've thought about cutting it so much is because I don't really show my hair a lot of love. I wear a lot of wigs, cos I like them and dabble in protective styles like crochet braids. But I don't think i wear my hair out often enough. So this year, I will strive to wear it out more often. Yes, I will still have protective styles on occasion but this is the year where I show my hair love!
Have a great weekend!
Berry Dakara.

Yaaayy Happy New Year Berry! I think your hairsolution makes sense. Mine will probably be to learn how to style my hair myself as the only natural hair stylist in my city has moved away and I'm not willing to subject my hair to Nigerian market women to drag. Sigh. But my hair is a lot though. When I imagine styling the sheer volume, I get weak. Serious arm cardio somtin lol. Mitchell
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand the arm workout o! It's not easy! But I'm sure you will learn. Desperate times!!
DeleteI hardly show off my hair on a regular day, so I've also decided to start showing it off too, lol.
ReplyDeleteGood girl!
DeleteOh yes! I am currently rocking mine nice and short :)... not as long as yours though ;)
