I Found My First Grey Hair!

A couple of years ago, I wrote about grey natural hair and showed photos of some ladies who flaunt their natural hair in all its silver glory. I've also written about grey hair becoming trendy.

A few months ago, I tried grey/silver crochet braids because I wanted to do something different and I totally enjoyed the two or three weeks I had them in.

Someone would think that I would have been excited at seeing my first grey hair, right? WRONG! Well, I was more shocked than anything. The only grey hairs I've seen on me have been 5 on my right forearm and I've had those for years - I know it's a random place to have grey hair but that's my life = random.

Anyways, I had DC and washed my hair that morning and was trying to detangle a little bit for chunky twists. Some shed hair came off my fingers and I decided to look through them - lo and behold, GREY HAIR! At first, I thought I wasn't seeing properly, but there was no mistaking my curl pattern in that lone strand. I wasn't prepared for that. I'm still feeling weird about it.

Now, the real deal is here and even though it will take a long time for my whole head to turn grey, I'm not 100% sure I'd be willing to be a silver fox.

What about you? Do you ave any grey hairs - if yes, do you dye them or not? If you don't have grey hair, would you let your natural grey hair shine when the time comes?

  1. Hello there.
I've had grey hairs from quite a young age. I attribute that to using chemicals in my hair from age 12 onwards. I used to have them dyed whenever I did my relaxer roots. Since going natural. I've tried to leave my hair with its "grey highlights" (most of my greys are around my hairline), but I eventually get upset, even depressed and dye them. I discovered one grey hair on my arm a few years ago. I used to tweeze it out, but eventually it would grow back. Now I just leave it alone. My mum has a full head of natural grey hair and she looks beautiful. I, on the other hand, am just not ready to embrace greydom yet.

    1. Yeah, I'm not sure I'm ready to have real grey hair just yet. But then again I'm afraid to dye my hair - conundrum.
