Hello Naturalistas,
How are you'll doing? Have you done your Christmas hair already? Today we bring to you Yewande. Enjoy.
AN: Can you tell us who you are and what you do?
My name is Yewande Akeredolu. I am a final year student of Babcock University Studying International Law and Diplomacy(come June 7th 2015 to meet the newest graduate in town- by God's grace)
AN: What's your thoughts about natural hair?
I think natural hair is beautiful. Its God's gift to us. Its so unique and versatile.
AN: Why did you decide to go natural?
Lool. My friend who had the same length of relaxed as I did in high school cut her hair and said 'you better cut your hair too and start over so it would be long. I had not relaxed for three months and thought it was okay and when I got home my sister happily chopped it off for me. I had no knowledge on what to do to my hair. I big chopped but still had relaxed ends. After a while, I did a second chop(not so much of a big chop )in June 2014
AN: Did you do a BC or you transitioned?
I transitioned on short hair which was not a very good experience. Thank God for braids, weaves and scarves. I wish I had researched before cutting my hair.
AN: Any fears about the BC?
Nope, none at all
AN: What has your experience been?
Its been beautiful and amazing I love the versatility of natural hair. Its also been challenging sha.
AN: What was/is your biggest fear about going Natural?
That my hair won't grow because it had been stagnant for years.
AN: Do you think you are in it for the long haul or is it just a phase?
Certainly the long haul, aint no phase
AN: Do you have any hair regimen you stick to?
I just wash my hair and deep condition afterwards and then moisturize. Not so much of a big deal.
AN: What's your go-to protective style?
Braids!!!!
AN: There are people that definitely have negative comments about you hair, how do you deal with that?
I ignore them or give a sarcastic reply when I feel like it
AN: What's your must have product and accessory?
Products: My Shea mix and Edge Control. Accessories: my hair band or bra strap(shhhhh) for my puffs
AN: What's you advice to anyone planning to ditch relaxers?
Go for it girl!!!
Thank you for your time.
