Natural Hair Media Focus: An African City

Hello gorgeous ladies (and men),

It's no secret that over the past few years, the natural hair movement has had a strong and steady stride. It's not uncommon to see people with natural hair around your community, in fashion, media, films and more. You see women with TWA, Afros, Locs, Twists, Twist outs, Bantu Knots, Bantu Knot Outs and so much more.

I was very pleased last year to encounter a web series on Youtube. Titled, 'An African City,' the show has been touted as Africa's answer to the mega popular 'Sex and the City.' The series (created by Nicole Amarteifio) is available on Youtube, and centers around a group of young women who have recently moved back to Ghana from living abroad. Apart from the awesome African fashion, scintillating and often titillating story lines, what captured my attention prominently was NATURAL HAIR!!! Three of the characters had their natural hair out in every single episode, and it was such a rush to see the different natural hair styles worn in different settings like work, home, and out for socializing (with the girls, or on dates).

Have you watched any episodes?! Who's your favorite character? They're currently filming Season 2 and I can't wait for what it brings - more love, more fashion, and definitely more FIERCE NATURAL HAIR styles.
