I have moved to the streets - Well not really - I go out and I see people rocking their natural hair and I am always too shy to walk up to them to ask for a picture. But I went for an event last week and I didn't let the opportunity pass me by.
Meet Temilola Ajayi; When I approached her she practically jumped on me when I mentioned "African Naturalistas" Apparently we've part of her Journey. Whoop! She's had her Natural hair all her life but didn't start taking proper care of it until recently after she experienced a massive dandruff breakout that accompanied hair loss. She gets alot of negative comment due to her working environment so she makes sure she styles ''Reasonably" with bantu knots, twists, up-do. She deals with the challenge of her hair drying out and being really hard.
We talked abit and I suggested for her to do a deep conditioning. See Pictures of her hair style for that day Below
Meet Eno, She decided to do dread locks but has just visited the salon once. Her hair seems to be growing out nicely without a 2nd loc. She recently saw a twist-out on someone and she loved it and is contemplating doing that instead of the permanent locs.

Cool, i think meeting with naturalistas on the street and chatting them up about their just might encourage more of them to value their natural hair. mopsy4real@yahoo.com

DeleteHad fun talking to these ladies.
Just wondering when I would rock my natural hair out. godwinogechi@ymail.com

This isn't abt the #500. Just to say a very well done and keep up the good work Lola. Very proud of you. I have been growning my natural hair now for two and a half years...and its been a very interesting journey as i have been very experimental with styles and how I wear my hair on a day to day basis. I do get lots of compliments which make the journey so far even more worth while.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Kamah. Is this you? Thanks for the compliment. Good to know you are enjoying your journey so far. I wish I could be experimental with styles too.
DeleteThe fact that you didn't drop your email sure attests to the fact that you don't want our recharge card. lol.

ReplyDeleteyou'd be surprised how many naturals are struggling and would like to share their journey. Unlike the U.S, Naturals in Canada don't greet each other. we just keep walking. brave of you to go and ask for pics. People seem to be camera shy these days, though they have IG & FB.

I hope it never gets to that here o... I had to put my 'shyness' in my pocket. Hopefully I get to run into more naturalistas.
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
