The #1 complaint of all parents of Natural Hair children is the dryness of the hair. Although natural hair is naturally dry, there are different ways to moisturize the hair during the week. The following techniques have been tried by many naturalistas and have proven effective.
Remember to give each technique some time before discarding it. If you find that after time the technique you are using is not working, move on to another one.
Some factors that can affect the effectiveness of these technique is the porosity of the child's hair. We will discuss this at a later time. Click here to learn how to test the porosity of your child's hair.
Technique 1: LOC Method
- (L) : Spritz the hair with some water, or a mixture of water and aloe vera juice.
- (O) : Apply oil of your choice (use oils that penetrate the hair shaft, such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil. Jojoba oil is also a great one to use)
- (C) : Apply a moisturizing cream to the hair
Technique 2: LCO Method
- (L) : Spritz the hair with some water, or a mixture of water and aloe vera juice.
- (C) : Apply a moisturizing cream to the hair
- (O) : Apply oil of your choice
Technique 3: LOCS Method
- (L) : Spritz the hair with some water, or a mixture of water and aloe vera juice.
- (O) : Apply oil of your choice
- (C) : Apply a moisturizing cream to the hair
- (S) : Seal in the moisture with a thick butter such as Shea Butter
Technique 4: LOCO Method
- (L) : Spritz the hair with some water, or a mixture of water and aloe vera juice.
- (O) : Apply oil of your choice (use oils that penetrate the hair shaft, such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil. Jojoba oil is also a great one to use)
- (C) : Apply a moisturizing cream to the hair
- (O) : Seal in the moisture with a thick oil such as Castor Oil

All the methods mentioned are really good but my best has to be the LOCB-liquid, oil, cream and butter (shea od cocoa are my faves)
ReplyDeleteCool. Your method is actually the LOCS method. You are sealing in the moisture with the butter. S for Sealing or Shea Butter

ReplyDeletePls what is a moisturizing cream. I always thought shea butter was one.
ReplyDeleteShea Butter is actually a sealant. However, if you add Aloe Vera Gel to the butter, the gel acts as a moisturizer. A moisturizing cream is any cream that has emollients or any other moisturizing ingredients.

I use the locs method on my niece and me it works better for us but for her hair it gotta be soaking wet for it to set any style!

I used the loc method with my little cousins hair but since they dont live with me their mom is challenged with keepoing it moisturized. So ill share this with het. Thank you. I know im not the first but janice_fortune@yahoo is where you can find me. Thank you for the priceless info.
