Hello Naturals,
It's the last day of the month and few hours to Nigeria's Independence Day. It's gonna be a work-free day for some of us. Happy new month in advance.
Anyways, meet today's mane matters feature, Kasie
Can
you tell us who you are and what you do?
I’m Chito Kasiemobi
Obiefune, a 300'l student of the Federal University of Technology Owerri,
studying Information Technology. I love to read, write, cook and play with my
hair
I love natural hair because
of it's versatility. I love to think that I can do anything I want with my
hair, you know, leave it out when I want to and not be scared it might turn out
bad. I think this was one of the reasons that made me turn natural.
When/why
did you decide to go natural?
I became a Naturalista on
the 22nd of April 2015. Relaxing my hair all the time was beginning to tell on
me, I was losing my edges and having major breakage.Whenever, I ran a comb
through my straight hair, lots of hair would come out with it..Going natural
was the only way I could feel good about my hair.
Did
you do a BC or you transitioned?
I transitioned for about
two months, the cut out the relaxed ends. During this period, I was skeptical
about cutting my hair, but I had a sweet friend who encouraged me to go ahead.I
took his advice and finally brought it down.Right now I'm so glad I did.
What was the experience
like?
Oh the feeling I got after
cropping my hair is something I cannot explain. It made me wonder why I was
scared in the first place.I had a new look, and I totally loved it..coupled with
the fact that people around me kept telling me how good I looked still with me
short hair..My whole fear vanished after that.
What was/is
your biggest fear about going Natural?
My biggest fear was that
I'd look like a boy and that my hair might not grow the way I wanted it
to....right now those fears are gone.
Do you have a
regimen you stick to? What is it like?
Oh yes! I wash my hair with
Misty Wheat Oil and Egg Protein shampoo and condition with misty hair
conditioner. Anytime I want curly hair, I apply Series Activator Moisturizer
Gel. I also love my Olaedo shea butter and Virgin hair fertilizer.
What emotional struggles, if any, have you faced since going natural?
So far, I haven't had any
emotional struggle.
I'm definitely in it for
the long haul. Who'd want to turn her back on this?....lol.
One day when I decided not
to comb my hair,my friend told me I looked like a mad woman..I just laughed and
told her she had to grab spiritual eyes...lol..People must definitely have a
thing or two to say, but with time, they'd come to appreciate it.
What's
your must have product and accessory?
Shea butter, leave in
conditioners and my tiny scarfs are definitely my must haves.
What is your
go-to style?
My go-to style is leaving
my hair as it is....maybe when my hair is longer, I'd come up with something
else.
What advice do you have for anyone just going natural?
Just go ahead and do
it..let go of your fears...the end justifies the means.
Where
can we find you?
