Signs your natural hair is healthy

Hello Naturalistas,

How has your week been? Kinks and all? Last week, we looked at signs to know when to trim your hair. Today, lets look at when you know your hair is healthy!!

Do we really know when our hair is healthy? I think by now we know that healthy hair has nothing to do with length!

One of the ways to know is

  • Shrinkage, We are regularly not very excited when we can't flaunt our hair length but we need to recognise the value of the shrink because it means your hair is been getting moisturised. Do ensure you are sealing in your moisture!

  • Minimal breakage
  • Soft to the touch
  • Retains Moisture
  • Shedding; Do not raise an alarm when your hair sheds, it is a normal part of the growth cycle. When it becomes excessive then you should raise the alarm. You shed an average of 100 strands a day, it's totally normal!
What do you think? Do you have heathy hair? How do you know?

  1. I also feel when my ends are healthy (ie when shed hairs don't have splits at the ends) that my hair is in good shape.

    1. I guess that works when you are checking for the health of the hair.

  2. I'm beginning to consciously stop my heart attack when I see the amount of hair shed. Anyhow sha it's like one quarter of when my hair was relaxed so I think I'm doing something right.

    2. You would also consciously know when the shedding is beyond normal. Try tea rinses consistently for a month and watch it reduce

  3. You have said it all....shrinkage, minimal breakage, retains moisture..etc
We should have those things in mind whenever we are assessing our hair health.

  7. Well I have 2 hair textures. The first is lazy to shrink and the other shrinks like there is no tomorrow. Some people have a head full of hair lazy to shrink so the shrinkage part doesn't apply to everyone
