Hairstyle Lounge on African Naturalistas

Hello ladies. How are we all doing? I am very excited about this month's edition of African Naturalistas. Honestly, I didn't know it would turn out as good as it did.

So after carrying the hairstyle in last week's edition, I finally decided that it had to come down because time doesn't care what we love or not, it just goes by.

Off to the O'Naturals, I went, a day before our In-Salon Trichology Consult. I had to look fly for my consultations, right?

So we proceeded to wash with my medicated shampoo, and a regular moisturising shampoo. We did a tingly hot oil treatment for my scalp, and steamed my hair.

Omozo decided that we should do their signature puffy thread. O'Naturals came up with this concept, and I wonder why they haven't yet patented it. She looked at my face, and I said I would like it to be side-swept, since I wasn't sure how puffy thread would look on me. At least, if I had it side-swept, if I didn't like it, I would be compensated with the weaving.

When we were almost done, I kept complaining that it would look better if they moved the puffy thread inward, closer to the middle, that it was too side-swept. People said it looked good this way, and since I didn't want to look bridal, this was great. I was very unsure of the style, so reluctantly, I just accepted.

After everything, this was what we ended up with. I was without any form of makeup, so the reality of my looking like a child was very obvious.

The thing about this style is that it can pass for very dressy and serious-looking at the same time. The next day, I was back at O'Naturals for our In-Salon Trichology Consult. I got compliments from everyone. In fact, three of the customers left the salon looking exactly like me, cos they said they wanted my exact style.

A week later was the International Women's Day, and I had a spoken word presentation at one of the events. My major issue was what to wear. I prayed, and God just led me to a cape of mine, which is basically new, and the my most expensive item in my wardrobe. But at least, I was able to get both a corporate look up, and a hippy look down.

And just to give you the full look.

But when we got on stage, we never cared about the cape or our look. The cape was in work full force, and I felt like superman

However, there was a downside to this hairstyle. As I have always said, my hair is high porosity, extremely frizzy hair. This means that it gets rough easily. So my weaving gets rough after about 4 days. The reasons I always get away with styles for about 3-4 weeks is beacause there's usually an updo in the middle of the frobnt to distract people from the roughness of the weavings at the side. But this time around, the weaving was right in front, while the updo was at the back, so I lost that advantage. Because of this, I had the style in for just about 11 days. It pained me ehnn....  But at least, I've learnt.

See you guys next month. In the meantime, do you like the hairstyle? What do you like most about it?

  7. This is why I never get my hair styled professionally.

    Frizz. Highly porous hair.

    Enough discouragement.
